Open Areas → Evolution, select your weapon, and scroll through the full requirement list. Gather everything shown, then return to evolve it. Shadow Monarch also has the separate, multi-stage Monarch Path.
Weapon evolution checklists
Choose your weapon for its material quantities, currency costs and upgrade sequence. Shadow Monarch has three stages; the other entries below unlock their awakened kit through one evolution.
Subtract the materials you own and combine an awakening with an accessory recipe.

Unlock your weapon's ultimate
Match material names as well as icons. Two items can look similar, and completing one row does not satisfy the rest of the recipe.

Open your chosen weapon at the Evolution NPC.

Scroll to the bottom of its requirements; some rows may be below the first screen.

Subtract what you own from each required quantity and write down the missing amounts.

Find those materials in the relevant mode or act's reward preview.

Farm the missing items, return to the NPC, and evolve the selected weapon.
Which upgrade menu do you need?
Flame Director is Hu Tao's weapon name. Paramita Pyre is a title, so use Flame Director when looking for the weapon's awakening.

Why is the Evolve button still locked?
Make sure the correct weapon is selected, then read every row, including any below the visible materials. You may have enough of one ingredient while missing another item or condition.
If the panel disagrees with your inventory after an update, close and reopen it. If the problem remains, capture the full requirement list and your inventory when reporting it.
Which weapon should you evolve first?
Evolve the main weapon you use to clear runs. Keep its required materials aside before crafting optional accessories.
If that awakening needs a raid you cannot finish yet, look at the requirements for your other equipped weapon. An almost-finished evolution may be easier to complete and help you get through that raid.
Frequently asked questions
Are evolution and awakening the same thing?+
Players use both names for unlocking a weapon's upgraded moveset and ultimate through Evolution. Shadow Monarch also has named Monarch Path stages.
Why can I use three skills but not my ultimate?+
Owning the weapon does not automatically unlock the ultimate. Open its Evolution requirements.
Do all weapons need the same materials?+
No. Select the exact weapon at the NPC to see its recipe.
Should I evolve every weapon I own?+
Start with your equipped main, then the partner you actually use. Save the other recipes until you plan to play those weapons.
